An inner circle #23

Here are some ideas on how nonshy might add an "inner circle" of truly non-shy nudists who post many nudes of themself on their profile page.

Motivation

Some nudists prefer that only fellow nudists will see the pictures they share on the site. For example somebody might sign up and only post clothed pictures on their page and some other nudists on the site are uncomfortable if that person is able to see their nudes without sharing any of their own in turn.

We have the "Shy Accounts" distinction where a profile with all private pics is segregated away from those who have public pics, but it doesn't guarantee that the public pics needed to not be a Shy Account in fact includes any nude pic.

User Experience

The existence of the inner circle would not be publicly advertised on the site: if you are not in the circle, you don't get any hints from the site itself that the circle even exists (e.g.: no mention on the FAQ or About pages, no profile badges should appear when you view the page of somebody in the circle, etc.)

If somebody invites you into the circle: you would get a Notification (maybe an automated DM from that person?) that may link you to a landing page that describes what the inner circle is about.

Some UX (user experience) ideas for the site would include:

  • If you are in the inner circle:
    • A badge would appear on profile pages (including your own) of people who are in the circle. It would show up near the "Certified!" and "non-shy!" badges at the top of the page.
    • On the Member Directory there would be a filter option to see only inner circle members.
    • On the Upload Photo page there would be a new Visibility setting: "Inner circle only" - it would behave similarly to the Public setting except only inner circle members would see it (on your page or on the Site Gallery if you opted it in)
    • When viewing the Photo Gallery of another member on the site:
      • If the member is not in the inner circle, their Photo Gallery would show a prompt at the top asking if you want to invite them into the inner circle. The idea is you would look at their gallery and if they're a true nonshy nudist with many nudes up you could easily send them an invite from that page.
    • Longer term: there could be designated Forums that only unlock for the inner circle, in a similar way that the Explicit forums only unlock for members who opted-in to see explicit content.
  • If you are not in the inner circle:
    • Business as usual: you don't see any badges on profile pages, you don't see the filter options on the Member Directory, you don't see any "inner circle only" photos anywhere on the site, you don't see any Forums for the inner circle, etc.

Invites and Removals

Anybody who is in the circle would have the ability to invite others to join the circle. There would be a brief summary of the purpose of the circle on the page where invites are sent out, so we would trust the judgment of circle members when inviting others to join.

For removal from the circle (e.g.: if somebody were invited by mistake, or somebody had nudes on their page and so got invited but then once in the circle they deleted or hid all their nudes): there could be an easy reporting system where you could flag a circle member for removal but it would need a site admin to actually handle the removal (so that members can't simply kick people out in a bullying fashion).

Technical Details

  • The inner circle tag would likely be a column on the Users table.
    • When a member adds you to the circle, the inner_circle flag is marked on your User row.
    • Being on the Users table it will be easy to add it as a database query filter on pages that need it (Site Gallery, Member Directory, forums, etc.)
